Get the latest on your commute, updated weekly. (Otherwise, with breaking updates as we get them). We make sense of transit so you don't have to.

Metro Bus

Early Warning: Route 8 - Main

Starting June 4, Route 8 will be added to the list of bus lines facing detours due to construction. A section of Commercial Street, where it intersects with Main and Exchange Streets, (near the Buffalo Naval Park and KeyBank Center) will be closed.

Buses will be diverted along Scott Street, then continue their regular route on Marine Drive.

Route 16 and 42 - South Park and Lackawanna

Due to construction on S. Park Avenue, Route 16 and 42 buses are being rerouted:

  • Route 16 Inbound: Traveling along Ridge Road, turning onto Baker Alley.
  • Route 16 Outbound: Diverted via Electric Avenue, passing Lockawanna City Hall.
  • Route 42: Using Baker Alley as a detour in both directions.

The NFTA says these changes will remain in effect until further notice.

Route 23 - Filmore-Hertel

Construction continues along the Filmore Avenue Bridge over the Kensington Expressway (NY33), forcing all 23 buses to be temporarily rerouted.

Buses will avoid the bridge in both directions, and serve all stops along the detour route. Inbound buses will turn left on Kensington (instead of straight), and travel along the Expressway overpass on Grider Street, passing by Erie County Medical Center, to turn onto East Delevan Avenue, to finally make a turn back onto Filmore Avenue and make continue the normal route. Outbound buses will do the same but in inverse order.

Once again, please note: Buses will serve all stops along the detour route, and stops on Filmore Avenue between Kensington Avenue and East Delavan Avenue are temporarily closed.

Metro Rail

Church Street Station Remains Closed - Use Temporary Platform

Church Street Station is still closed for construction. The work began last July and is expected to continue until late this year. NFTA says to use temporary platforms to board Metro Rail at Church Street.
